Did You Know?

Updated: Nov 16, 2023

The magnificent water jet is 140 meters high and 500 liters of water are passing through it every second at a speed of 200 km/h.

It was initially used to distribute the propulsive force of the Rhône River to the city's artisans, it became the Jet d'Eau when the factories requested an additional flow.

If you are going to Geneva we recommend a walk along the famous Quays to reach the foot of the Jet d'Eau, Geneva's emblem since 1891. The Jet d'Eau symbolizes the ambition, dynamism, and international influence of a modern city that cares about its environment. It is 140 meters high and water flows out of the nozzle at a speed of 200 km/h.

Be aware that it is not turned on when there is a lot of wind or risk of freezing.

In the summer months it is on from 9:00 am until sunset. On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays it is on until 10:30 pm and is illuminated. During the rest of the year it is open from 10:00 to 16:00.

This is a must-see for those visiting the city. If possible, take a cruise on the lake and take pictures from all angles.

While you're in Geneva, why not visit the Salle Centrale de la Madeleine?

This is simply one of the most beautiful buildings and known for its Festivals, Concerts and Events.
